Spanish and Journals

This morning the Cardinals had their first Spanish class with Alicia. Alicia taught us how to say Hello (Hola) and Good Morning (Buenos Dias) in Spanish. Alicia went around the circle saying Buenos Dias to each friend, and then each friend would respond with saying Buenos Dias Alicia or give her a wave.

After introductions, the Cardinals played a name game. They would call out a friends name and then gently toss the globe to that friend. Friends enjoyed catching and tossing the globe.

Following Spanish, the Cardinals came back to the classroom where we had Morning Meeting. Once Morning Meeting was complete, we entered into Choice Time. One of the choices was to create an art structure. Friends worked together to connect wire baskets with pipe cleaners. Friends had to figure out and problem solve where to place the pipe cleaners in order keep the baskets upright and stable. Not only did this activity help friends work together, but also strengthen their fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination too.

Snack: cheese, crackers, and apples

During choice, some Cardinals explored in the sandbox and at the drawing table as well.

Making a robot out of play-doh.

Making tasty meals in the kitchen.

Building a home for the animals.

Today we had Journals. Once complete with their illustrations, friends took their time sounding out the words and writing them in their journal.

Ask your Cardinal what they journaled about.
