Buckets and Flubber

This morning the Cardinals read Have You Filled a Bucket Today? The book talks about being a bucket filler and a bucket dipper. The book gives examples and stories of what people can do to fill your bucket, as well as dip your bucket. Before reading, the Cardinals made predictions as to what it may mean to be a bucket filler. Here is a list of some predictions:

Syler: when someone is hurt they get a bandaid

Mattie: To get some ice for other people

Seren: To be nice to someone

Tessa: Helping someone get anything they need

Shiv: When someone is crying you can help them to feel better and get them a bandaid

Logan: To put water in it

Corrine: Put a lot of water in it

After reading the book, we went over our predictions and made a list of some other ways you could fill a bucket.

Taylor: If you get hurt and get a bandaid

Aarav: By telling someone you love them

Gabby: If you get hurt you get a bandaid

Max: Putting water in it

Zoë: Put stars in it

Joey: I can give a friend a hug

Toby: In Maryland I filled buckets with sand and water

Jonah: Say I love you

Following the story, we brought out The Cardinal Kindness Jar.  We talked about keeping an eye out to  see or hear acts of kindness from friends and/or bucket filling, a pompom will be added to the jar. Once the jar is filled, the class will collaboratively come up with an idea to celebrate all our acts of kindness!

Next up, flubber making!

The Cardinals worked together to complete the flubber recipe. Friends measured, poured and mixed all the ingredients to make a successful batch of flubber.

After adding the yellow food coloring, friends thought that the yellow flubber looked like a scrambled egg!

Ask your Cardinal what the flubber felt like.
